UPCOMING EVENTS
THE HILTON SAVANNAH DESOTO, SAVANNAH, GEORGIA August 1-3 2008
Dear Stovall Cousins: The time is drawing near to our exciting 2008 Reunion in Savannah, Georgia. Our Reunion Committee has been working hard to provide you with the type of reunion you enjoyed in St. Louis, Missouri. The reunion will take place August 1, 2, and 3. The hospitality/registration room will be open beginning Thursday evening, July 31, to welcome you. The Registration Packet includes information on the hotel, guest speakers, tours, dinners, meetings and program as well as registration form and items for sale. What we need to make this event complete is you! This event happens only every three years. It is extremely important that we hear from you no later than June 25, 2008. We have to give numbers attending to the hotel, restaurant, and tour company. We have to place orders for the memorabilia that you want. We are color coding the nametags so you know what child of Bartholomew you are related to. All of this takes time and we only have 30 days to put the final touches on this event. Friday, August 1, opens with the Historic Savannah City Tour. The afternoon is free time for you to tour or shop on your own. You can sign up for on/off privileges after the tour on the trolley. The evening is dinner at Paula Deen’s restaurant Lady & Sons. Saturday, August 2, opens with mini conferences. This was a great success in 2005. This gives you the time to learn more about the Stovall’s and history of the city. There will be time to visit with other family members. Saturday afternoon will be the Business Meeting. The evening program includes a great meal, followed by an exciting and talented Doc Stovall. We have awards and many fun surprises for this evening. The city will be announced for the 2011 Reunion. Sunday, August 3, is the closing of this great event. The winner of the quilt will be picked. We will have a great breakfast together and closing program. Come for the fun, family and the experience! Sincerely, Linda Linda M. Stovall, President Stovall Family Association

DOC STOVALL, Saturday Evening Banquet Entertainment
A native Virginian, Doc has been associated with music most of his life. His earliest influences include the traditional music associated with the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountain areas of the South that was handed down from generation to generation since its inception in Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.
He is well-known as a Western singer and cowboy poet throughout American, having performed in twenty-five of the fifty states. Honored in 2002 as Georgia’s Official Cowboy Balladeer by Georgia State Legislature, he has entertained audiences both young and old as he strives to keep alive the history of the West in music and song. In November of 2004, Doc was inducted into the Atlanta County Music Hall of Fame, the first cowboy singer so honored. It is with great pleasure that we welcome our entertainer and cousin this evening. On Saturday evening we will also be giving out awards to honor members of the Association along with a great reunion buffet at the hotel starting at 6:00 p.m. (See registration form for price list).
SUNDAY MORNING
We will be handing out the beautiful quilt that was donated to us by Pamela Schiftic in honor of her mother Ethleen Martin. We will be wrapping up any unfinished business and enjoying a farewell Southerner Breakfast. We are still working on finding a morning speaker for this time. We will have singing by Marinana Alvarado Stovall to start us off.
